Shipping Process for Your Iron Fence

Common Carriers

In order to minimize your cost, we select our freight carriers based on the freight destination.
You may choose your own carrier.
You may request 3rd party billing.
Please inform your sales person of your shipping preference.

Terminal / Dock Pickup

You may request this option to avoid the extra residential charges—this is a great alternative to residential deliveries.

Commercial / Business Dock Delivery

To qualify for this rate, a loading dock is REQUIRED. These shipments are palletized and ship via freight truck. Most freight shipping companies utilize trucks without a lift gate. These trucks need to back up to an elevated loading dock. An elevated commercial loading dock allows a shipping truck to back up and unload the pallet(s) with only a pallet jack. If your commercial / business location does not have an elevated loading dock, the shipment will not be able to be unloaded and additional delivery charges will be incurred.

NOTE: This is a standard truck or freight delivery. You MUST have an elevated loading dock (see below) at the delivery location. A pallet jack or forklift should also be available for unloading of the truck.

Residential Delivery

Due to weight limitations for streets in residential areas, these charges are higher than deliveries to commercial addresses. In many cases a trucking company will send a smaller truck (i.e., not an 18-wheeler) with lift-gate service to residential addresses in order to be in compliance with weight limitations. Fence Supply Inc. is not responsible for the freight cost if the product cannot be removed from the truck. Please note that truck drivers are not responsible for the unloading of the product. If the customer cannot unload the product and it is brought back to the shipping depot, future attempts to deliver this product will require additional costs, which are the responsibility of the customer.

Choosing this shipping option results in an additional charge of $150, which is included with this selection in your shopping cart.

Customer Pickup

This option is for those residing in the Dallas / Fort Worth, TX area that would like to pick up the products directly from our location.

Ask your sales person for more details.

How to Measure for a New Iron Fence

Fig. 1

Fig. 1

Pre-Planning:
1. Locate the boundary lines of the property. Decide exactly where you want your fence to be located.

2. Use marking paint mark the ground where the centers of all post holes will be.

3. Determine gate posts location. Gate posts should always be the first post to set.

It is important that you properly plan before constructing your fence; you don’t want to run out of materials halfway through your install. To properly estimate the number of panels needed in your fence, you have to determine the following important factors regarding your fence:

Fence perimeter

Fence perimeter is the total length your fence will run. If the area that you need to enclose is a rectangle, the perimeter is the total length of all four sides. In order to get this measurement, all you need to do is measure along the fence lines until you arrive where you started. Jot down this information for later use.
